The Client
Pakistan has over 35 million skilled and semi-skilled workers aspiring to move up the socioeconomic ladder but struggle to reach their full potential. Addressing this, Dost is Pakistan’s first job and professional networking mobile application for the working middle class. This initiative involves creating a digital platform that serves two important purposes. First, it helps these workers find job opportunities more easily. Second, it provides them with valuable information and insights to make informed career choices.

The Challenge

Our main goal was to create a brand identity that would connect with the working class/skilled workers, an important part of the investor pitch design. We developed a user-friendly design that considered the unique needs and digital skills of Dost's target audience. This approach applied to both the user experience (UX) and user interface (UI), making sure the platform was visually pleasing and easy to use.

Alongside website development, we designed features like video resumes, community groups, and free assessments to boost user engagement and empowerment. Ensuring that even users with limited tech skills could navigate the platform was a priority for the website and investor pitch design.

Overall, the aim was to make the platform engaging and informative, promoting skill development and career advancement. This approach would certainly appeal to potential investors and help users take confident steps toward a brighter future.

Dost successfully launched and quickly gained over 13,000 users, reflecting its wide-reaching impact among the working class.
Brand Identity

We developed a friendly and approachable brand identity for Dost, which involved website development and illustration. This identity featured a lively color palette and straightforward, inclusive images. The name 'Dost' itself conveyed trust and camaraderie, showing its commitment to building strong connections with the working-class audience.

By using illustration we carefully drafted visual elements that would resonate with the target demographic, fostering a genuine connection. These components ensured that every aspect of the brand conveyed the message of accessibility and support. Additionally, content development played a vital role in aligning the brand's messaging with its visual identity, creating a cohesive and engaging user experience.

Dost is an app available on Android. The app’s attention to detail ensured that the user experience and interface design were finely tuned to cater specifically to the needs of skilled  professionals:

  • Streamlined Onboarding: We designed a straightforward onboarding process, allowing users to effortlessly create profiles and input their skills, experiences, and preferences.
  • Video Resumes: To go beyond the confines of traditional paper resumes, Dost pioneered the concept of video resumes. This innovation empowered users to showcase their personalities and skills more effectively.
  • Community Groups: Fostering a sense of belonging was a priority. Dost featured community groups where users could connect, share insights, and seek peer advice, creating a supportive environment.
  • Transparent Job Listings: The platform presented comprehensive job listings, including detailed information about companies and job requirements. This transparency ensured that users clearly understood what was expected from each opportunity.
  • Skill Assessments: Dost offered skill assessments that not only allowed users to gauge their abilities but also provided suggestions for improvement. This feature actively promoted skill development and career growth.
  • User-centric Navigation: The interface was designed to be intuitive, employing simple icons and straightforward menus for easy navigation, even for those less familiar with technology.
  • Localized Content: Recognizing the bilingual needs of the target audience, the app seamlessly supported both Roman Urdu and English languages, ensuring accessibility for all.
  • Empowerment through Data: Users were provided with data and insights about various industries, enabling them to make well-informed decisions about their careers. This data-driven approach empowered the users to take charge of their professional journeys.

Dost successfully launched and quickly gained over 13,000 users, reflecting its wide-reaching impact among the working class. This success was attributed to the effective use of website development, design, and localized content development, enhancing the app's appeal and usability.
